Archaeologists have found the exact rocky outcrop in Wales (image) from where the bluestones found at Stonehenge originated. They were quarried 500 years before they were assembled into the famous stone circle that still stands today, 140 miles away on the Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England. They found similar stones that the prehistoric builders extracted but left behind, and a loading bay area from where the huge stones could be dragged away.
