As part of my midwifery training, I spent the summer of 2005 in Vanuatu, learning from the amazing midwives and strong women there how to use my ears to determine where a mother might be in her labor (because my Ni-Van communication skills were not very good)!
I have such a fondness for this little baby! As she was being born and I was helping to ease her out, she had one of her little hands up next to her head and she grabbed one of my fingers! Melted my heart before she was even born. :-)
This pin was labeled "Midwife Thinking", but I think that most midwives would go for the Gaskin Manuevar (rotate to hands/knees) first given that it is the most effective way to resolve dystocia. On the other hand, my OB made it to "Enter: rotational manuevars" during my first birth to resolve dystocia. ~Nicole Raber
