Here is 1 of the 26 storytelling mats i made in a month. I am using blue felt for the sea. I also have green and browm mats which can go on top and be mixed and matched. There is also a 'peek a boo' space to add other textures, like waves with a silk scarf here. Romm for many little hand and storytelling

A storytelling mat can be fast and simple to set up.

Here are some finger puppets, scarves and a tree mug transformed into a tree with scarves tied to it for Mem Fox's book Two little Monkeys. This took me under 5 minutes to make and the children played with it for hours on and off during the day.

We're Going on a bear hunt storytelling mat

My felt moveable storytelling can be used for We're going on a bear hunt and many other books with moveable grass, water, mud, trees and snow AND of course a cave! I used my story stones too!

Sea week isn't far away and we have been using our felt moveable storytelling mat daily. This one has been well used to retell Tangaroa's gift with felt characters from the book and loose parts. This is one of the many SEA storytelling mats in my blog.

I have been wanting to make a felt storytelling mat for a couple of years but every time I went to make one I didn’t because I though I would need to make several for different scenes. A couple of months ago I came up with the idea of making a moveable one and I was EXCITED! Grab my e-pattern and have one made in under 30 minutes
