Impact of Mending Clothes
One of the best ways to lower your fashion impact is to wear clothing for longer. So each year we run a community-focused series of classes called On The Mend, where we teach basic sewing and mending skills. Teaching participants how to extend the life of their clothes and raising awareness of the impacts of clothing. By increasing skills and knowledge, participants are empowered to repair their clothes - saving resources and carbon emissions.

'Holy grail': how textile recycling can help slash emissions, pollution and landfill
In Australia, an estimated 3 million tonnes of textiles go to landfill each year. Our Textile Reuse Programme Collaborators BlockTexx say textile recycling is the “holy grail for the industry and the planet” 👏 #fashion #sustainablefashion #usedtouseful
UsedFULLY® – Textile Reuse Programme | Used to Useful
It's estimated that over 100 million tonnes of clothing & textile waste ends up in New Zealand landfills each year releasing greenhouse gases, CO2 and methane, as they decompose. Each kilogram of this waste creates over 2kg of greenhouse gas emissions. For every kilogram recycled or reused, more emissions are saved than from paper, plastic, and glass recycling combined. The Textile Reuse Programme is a social enterprise building a circular eco-system --> www.textilereuse.com
Grab a copy of Nadia Magazine and check out the feature about us. If you don't know already - we are creating a circular model for clothing to significantly reduce environmental impacts with our Textile Reuse Programme partners - Barkers Clothing, Wellington Zoo, Alsco, Wellington City Council & Deane Apparel.
