Koru, at Hamilton Gardens, New Zealand. The Koru is the Maori word that relates to this unfurling growing-tip of the native Ponga fern. The Koru is said to symbolise emerging life, also interpreted as advancing skills, or development of a life-stage. Basically it's all about things getting better. A more "famous" use of the Koru is by Air New Zealand, who have it as their logo. See my pin about the AirNZ logo for more story. .....Antony.
Chatham Island Forget-me-not. Click to enlarge. This plant is listed in New Zealand from 2012 as 'Threatened - Nationally Vulnerable'. It was previously nationally endangered, but has been grown widely and replanted as much as possible in an effort to save it. This seems to be working!
