The partial eclipse's midpoint will be at 11.49am, with the Moon covering 7.8 per cent of the Sun in Auckland. Further south the coverage decreases to be only 0.6 per cent in Wellington, while Christchurch will have no eclipse at all, the Royal Astronomical Society of New Zealand said.
