We all live in the same society and on the same planet, yet some of us are barely given what we need to survive while others get all that they could want. inequality is detrimental to our world as we lose so many of the Nikola Teslas and Mother Teresas that we could learn from as they develop our societies with the right values.

Patience is a virtue, and it is one of many that we need to adopt as part of our very beings and usher in a new standard of the 'moral self'. We need to have the patience to wait for the bus, and the courage to stand against injustice no matter the cost.

How are we suppose to move into an age of sustainability when massive corporations such as FIFA allow countries with no infrastructure and a growing poverty and drug crisis to spend millions in order to hold a football tournament? It's no big surprise that McDonalds has jumped on this injustice to make a quick buck.

"Now, I don't know about you, but I don't think the primary purpose of your life, of my life and the entirety of the human race's is just to blindingly consume to support a failing economy and a faulty system. Forever and ever until we run out of every resource and have to resort to blowing each other up to ensure our own survival. " -Rou Reynolds

As we realise that unsustainable practices are no longer as cost effective maintain, we move into a time of innovation. One of the more interesting ideas being generated lately is that of solar roadways. But one must think, why did it take us this long to get here?

The idea is that we as people are born with some sense of morality bestowed upon us. This is then either developed as we grow older or forced out of us through circumstances we can not choose. We must choose the path that we walk and how we act as it is those actions that define who we are.

Like animals can be trained through repetition to behave a certain way, we humans can be trained to act virtuously until it becomes habit or second nature to us.

Like ants, we need to realise the idea that we are interdependent on the Earth and with each other. Going it alone is an impossibility and we need to start focussing on harmony, not conformity.

The world is still set in it's ways of a messiah leadership, waiting for it's eco-saviour, (kind of like it's own version of Superman), to come along and make sustainability easy. We need to be the change that we want to see in the world, not wait for someone else to bring it to our entitled laps.

Diamonds are one of the best examples of the blind men test showing a systems failure. They are realistically worth nothing as the market hyper-inflates the price by restricting supply. They have also made it the norm as symbols of love or appreciation. We need to make our own decisions and not let the proverbial "man" dictate us.

Burger King is the least sustainable company according to CSR theory with underpaid and overworked employees and major contributions to the obesity epidemic. But it is a very successful company according to Shareholder Value theory.

The fact that we as individuals and as a society looks down on people who earn an honest wage doing "lower-class" jobs, such as rubbish collectors, proves that our world has moved from a "we" world-view proposed by Martin Luther and John Calvin to a "me" world-view where personal wealth defines self worth.

Apple not only make people buy their products but have also made it seem shameful to buy a competitors product. People purchase Apple products in order to get on board with high end ideals Apple associated themselves with. They also release new models annually and if you don't have the latest, you aren't someone to be admired because you're not "up to date". This contribution to western consumerist ideals makes them one of the least sustainable companies today.

Economic recessions are a part of "the way things work" as we are taught in economics. This shows that there the system is faulty. If your car stopped working every now and then, you would either get a new one or get it fixed. This is what we need to do with "the system".

Biomimicry is the concept that we should mimic nature in the way that it harnesses energy. Like the way that trees branch out and use chlorophyll to absorb solar energy. As nature grows and expands, it provides for other living creatures. Something we do not

How can GDP be a good measure of our progress as a society when by its standards, the more we produce to satisfy our unjustified wants and the more damage to our environment we cause means that our economy is better off? To any rational person this does not make logical sense. For these reasons, GPI makes for a much better measure of progress as it takes into account the damage we do to our environment and society.

Necessity is the mother of invention. Only when we have the need to harness the renewable energies around us, will we try to.

If a rich person is caught with illegal drugs, it's a scandal and we feel bad for them. However, if a "poor" person is caught with illegal drugs, it's a crime and we demonise them. This is one of the issues of inequality as we treat the rich and famous as gods. We need to stop making stupid people famous.

We are what we buy. A faster, more expensive car portrays the image that we are more successful, rich and therefore happier than everyone else. No matter how fast your car has it still has to obey the speed limits set in place, so then why do people covet cars that can go from 0-100km/h in 3 seconds? This ideology is imprinted into our minds by corporate advertising.
