Some people feel that the world's problems are so pressing that social and political action should take precedence over individual development. They may feel that they should sacrifice their own needs completely in order to work for a larger cause. In its extreme form, this kind of thinking justifies individual neurosis and aggression as purely a product of a troubled society, so that people feel they can hold on to their neurosis and even use their aggression to try to effect change Action, Lager, People, World Problems, Development, Sacrifice, Society, Larger, Journey

Chogyam Trungpa ~ We should be thankful to the Great Eastern Sun vision. Without passion, nothing can be experienced; nothing can be worked on. With aggression, we have bad feelings about ourselves; either we feel tremendously righteous, that we are the only ones who are right, or we feel pissed off that somebody is destroying us. The notion of eternal life needs maintenance. We have to maintain our eternity by struggling to maintain it constantly, again and again and again. So soul - the dignity or entity that we possess individually, personally, the thing that we refer to when we say we are saving our soul - is a very ambiguous term. If we look at our soul very closely, very precisely, and examine every detail of our soulness, we find that we don't have soul. ~ Chögyam Trungpa, 12 Nidana's Sourcebook Bouldering, Rocky Mountains, Meditation Retreat, Meditation Space, Buddhist Wisdom, Buddhist Temple

In order to be without deception, the only reference point you can rely on is the knowledge that basic goodness exists in you already. The certainty of that knowledge can be experienced in the practice of meditation. In meditation, you can experience a state of mind that is without second thoughts, free from fear and doubt. That unwavering state of mind is not swayed by the temporary ups and downs of thoughts and emotions ~ Chogyam Trungpa Mindfulness, Masters, Knowledge, Godfrey, Fear

The basic idea of the practice is actually very joyful. It is wonderful that human beings can do such a fantastic exchange and that they are willing to invite such undesirable situations into their world. It is wonderful that they are willing to let go of even their smallest corners of secrecy & privacy, so that their holding on to anything is gone completely. That is very brave. We could certainly say that this is the world of the warrior, from the Bodhisattva's point of view~ Chögyam Trungpa Let's Go, Bodhisattva, Tantric, Secrecy

"Our opinions and attitudes about ourselves are very important. We cannot ignore the slightest tendency to feel wretched, inadequate, or fundamentally distrustful of ourselves. Those feelings always show through. This doesn't mean that you are not allowed to think anything bad about yourself. However, there is another side of you that an expression of goodness. That has to be recognized as well. Otherwise, without that nature of goodness, the human race wouldn't be here at all~ Chogyam Trungpa Feelings, Buddhist Quotes, Nature, Country, Ignore

"Somehow, we pattern life in a way that never allows us enough time to actually taste its flavor. There is continual busyness, continual searching for the next moment, a continual grasping quality to life. That is duhkha, the First Noble Truth. Understanding and confronting suffering is the first step." Chögyam Trungpa, Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism. Tibetan Buddhism, Mindfullness, Tantra, Vast

Discovering real goodness comes from appreciating very simple experiences. We are not talking about how good it feels to make a million dollars or finally graduate from college or buy a new house, but we are speaking here of the basic goodness of being alive—which does not depend on our accomplishments or fulfilling our desires. ~ Chogyam Trungpa Quotes, Alive, Empowerment, Inner Light, Experience, Appreciation, Feels

If the warrior does not feel alone and sad, then he or she can be corrupted very easily. In fact, such a person may not be a warrior at all. To be a good warrior, one has to feel sad and lonely, but rich and resourceful at the same time. This makes the warrior sensitive to every aspect of phenomena: to sights, smells, sounds, and feelings. In that sense, the warrior is also an artist, appreciating whatever goes on in the world. ~ Chogyam Trungpa Medicine, Spiritual Gangster, Call Art, Buddhist Philosophy
