The Mason Avenue Shopping Center in Chatsworth is seen here in 1964. The plaza featured a Safeway grocery store; Cornet, Little Pigs Barbecue, Hull's Bakery, Chatsworth Travel Agency and a barber shop can also be seen in the photo. CAVEAT: Though widely repinned here and otherwise disseminated on the Internet as a World War II photograph, usually captioned “When duck face was cute”, this is simply a black-and white version of a present-day, modern color picture of two women dressed up in faux uniforms of that era. On close examination, the photography is digital, and the fabrics, make-up, sequins, and insignia are all incorrect for the alleged period. The picture first appeared around 2010.
