Vulpes is a genus of the Canidae. The members of this genus are colloquially referred to as true foxes. Within Vulpes there are twelve separate and distinct extant species and four fossil species. Beginning from the top and going left to right: Arctic fox, Bengal fox, Blanford’s fox, Cape fox, Corsac fox, Fennec fox, Kit fox, Pale fox, Red fox (includes the Silver fox), Ruppel’s fox, Swift fox, Tibetan Sand fox.
The fennec fox (Vulpes zerda) is a small nocturnal fox found in the Sahara of North Africa. Its most distinctive feature is unusually large ears. The name “fennec” comes from the Arabic word for fox, and the species name zerda has a Greek origin that refers to its habitat.
Felted foxy friend! - DONE!!! 2-21-13 Started it last night. Sketched out a free hand pattern, cut the pieces out and attached them and then tonight I sewed it together and stuffed it... her! The eyelashes definitely make it a her! Can't wait until Kaylen wakes up and sees it in the morning! Wouldn't mind making the wolf down the road, but for now I'm marking this as DONE!
