My all time favorite sculpture by Savage. Just amazing, profound, hopeful and joyous. That’s understandable since it’s based on the song “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by James Weldon Johnson. Unfortunately, this (like most of her art) is no longer with us. It was destroyed with most of the art after the 1939 New York World’s Fair was closed.
