The tires of this 1904 Oldsmobile Model N Touring Runabout were not chosen for their color. Until B.F. Goodrich introduced “carbon black” into the vulcanizing process in 1910, automobile tires were white.
1912 Cartercar Model R Roadster - Cartercar was a U.S. make manufactured from 1905-1915. This car had a 4160cc 4 cylinder engine w/ single chain drive & a friction drive transmission. Byron Carter died in 1908 when the crank kicked back and hit him in the jaw, causing gangrene and eventual death. Byron's death prompted his good friend, Henry Leland of Cadillac, to develop the self-starter that was introduced in 1912.
