Sylvia Alice Earle (August 30, 1935 - present) is an American oceanographer and a renowned marine biologist. In 1970, she headed the first women's team of aquanauts for a project known as the Tektite Project. She was the chief scientist for National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, US. Currently, she is a deep sea explorer-in-residence of National Geographic channel.
