Venice, Italy in 1976. Stunningly beautiful (but in '76, I was shocked because no one ever told me that it actually smelled horrendous..like sewer. But you got used to it and soon didn't smell a thing and could totally enjoy the city. Had my first calamari there, and I have never, ever tasted any that tasted that delicious since. One of the prettiest places I've been.
