Ryan Wayne White (* December 6, 1971 - † April 8, 1990 ), the American teenager from Kokomo, Indiana who became a national poster child for HIV/AIDS in the United States after being expelled from school because of his infection. A hemophiliac, he became infected with HIV from a contaminated blood treatment and, when diagnosed in 1984, was given six months to live.

March 10th Fact: Hemophilia is carried on the X chromosome. A women who is a carrier of #hemophilia has the genetic mutation on one of her X chromosomes. Approximately 1/3 of women have been diagnosed as “symptomatic carriers,” & experience bleeding problems like nose bleeds, heavy menstrual bleeding, unexplained bruises, bleeding gums, & joint/muscle bleeds. By definition, if a woman has clotting factor levels less than 50% & experiences symptoms, they have mild hemophilia
