War may sometimes be a necessary evil. But no matter how necessary, it is always an evil, never a good. We will not learn how to live together in peace by killing each other's children. Jimmy Carter

After 60+ years, Pres. Jimmy Carter has announced himself at odds with the Southern Baptist Church. He said the decision was "unavoidable" after church leaders prohibited women from being ordained & insisted they be 'subservient to their husbands.' Said Carter "At its most repugnant, the belief that women must be subjugated to the wishes of men excuses slavery, violence, forced prostitution, genital mutilation and national laws that omit rape as a crime."

The Nobel Peace Prize 2002 was awarded to Jimmy Carter "for his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development".
