THis is my favorite bonsai in my collection and the longest tree I've been training. It's a portulacaria aka Elephant Jade aka Baby Jade. The first photo is of the tree when I first purchased it off of Ebay in 2003 when I first got into bonsai. For being a succulent, this tree loves water and responds very well to constant plucking and trimming. When purchased it, I was told it was originally started as a cutting somewhere around 1984.

Dwarf Jade Bonsai - Portulacaria afra - The Dwarf Jade is one of the easiest bonsai to grow and is recommended for beginners. Small, rounded, fleshy leaves contrast beautifully with the thick, substantial trunks. As you prune this tree, you can use the cuttings to easily create other Jade plants since this is a succulent and the cuttings take very easily.
