2011 Hall of Fame Inductee, Shirlie Sanders (August 13, 1922 – March 11, 2006) was one of the 5 founders of the Circle L-5 Riding Club, which was first named The Silver Saddle Club, consisting of 55 adult and 30 youth members and is the first Charter Black Riding Club in Forth Worth, Texas.  Founded over 60 years ago, he paved the way for all Black Cowboys and Cowgirls in Fort Worth to participate in the Fort Worth Stock Show, Cowboys of Color Rodeo and many parades.

Founded in 1929, Cowtown Rodeo is the longest running weekly rodeo in the United States, attracting cowboys from all over the country to the Salem County town of Pilesgrove. Every Saturday night from May 29 through September 25, the lights come up on the 4,000-seat outdoor arena at 7:30, and spectators are treated to nearly three hours of bronco riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and more.
