Metasequoia glyptostroboides (Dawn Redwood); This ancient living fossil species is an amazingly pest resistant and adaptable deciduous conifer for the Kentucky landscape. Plants are tighly conical, 60'-80' tall with uniform outline, bright green needles and shredding bark. It shows wide soil tolerance, rapid growth and is very long lived. Cultivars include the weeping 'Miss Grace' and the gold-foliaged 'Ogon'.
"It was deeper and more intimate than the fear of evil and capricious gods and of magic, the fear of the forest, and of the forces of nature, malevolent, red in tooth and claw" (13). They have many little fears. Their fears are mostly things in nature and somehow related to god.
