SAPP‿RO - The Ainu Culture Center where visitors can learn about the unique culture, life, history and art of the Ainu people, who were the original inhabitants of Hokkaido. You are allowed to see, touch, and experience numerous traditional Ainu craftworks made by Ainu artisans living in Sapporo. In the Ainu language, Sapporo means “beautiful village in Sapporo.” The exhibitions include some 300 items such as traditional clothing and tools, which visitors are allowed to hold in their hands.
