Thunderstorms over Lake Powell, Arizona - Most photos of Lake Powell highlight the reservoir, created by the construction of Glen Canyon Dam, and its fluctuating water levels. But this photo’s focus is on the sky above the lake—not to mention that flash of lightning—which is as much a part of the amazing scenery here as the rugged sandstone landscape of the region.
Entwined Submitted by: Kevin Campbell A vicious thunderstorm woke up Page, AZ at 3am. After I checked the weather radar, I quickly made my way to an overlook on Lakeshore Drive along Lake Powell and setup to capture the frequent lightning strikes. This bolt was captured at 6:01am as the sunrise was just beginning to create some soft light behind the clouds at the horizon.
