It smelled like the past in here, dust in the air and parchment rustling in small gusts of wind coming from the open window to the far left. It was warm too, a feeling in the air that made you want to sit and read til your eyelids drooped and you fell into the inky world as you went to sleep.

Jacob watches over Jeremy, protecting him from an unknown dark evil whispered about in the space between this world and the next. (In my opinion, may be too intense for some middle grade)
