In this fun logic puzzle, which will take older elementary students about 15 minutes, students use pictures and clues to make deductions that lead to the one and only solution to the question, "Which dog did each child adopt?" I made it as part of my dogs themed reading, writing, and language lessons (that can be spread throughout the year). The puzzle can be used as a warm-up or free-time activity.
Assessment can seem overwhelming, especially if your school or district requires their own special brand of data tracking. Other ways are a complete drain of classroom time.
