Peter O'Toole (Aug. 2, 1932 – Dec. 14, 2013) was an Irish actor. He attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, & began working in the theatre, gaining recognition as a Shakespearean actor at the Bristol Old Vic & with the English Stage Company. He achieved stardom playing T. E. Lawrence in the film Lawrence of Arabia (1962) for which he received his first Academy Award nomination. He holds the record for the most Academy Award acting nominations (eight) without a win.
