Former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates on Sunday defended the White House against charges that they did not act quickly enough to protect the Americans killed in the Benghazi attacks. Gates, who served in the administrations of both Presidents George W. Bush’s and Obama said that some critics who said that military force could have saved lives had a “cartoonish” view of U.S. military capabilities.
Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev has named government procurement as being among the most corrupt areas of the country’s economy. Speaking at a press conference during a hearing of the Presidium of Russia’s Anti-State procurement of goods, labor, and services for state and municipal needs were the areas Kolokoltsev claimed were among the most corrupt, alongside construction, road maintenance, healthcare, education, science, and culture.
