This reminds me of my childhood.  When I was little, I brought home a black girl that I had recently become friends with.  Certain family members saw us playing in my backyard, got enraged, made racist comments, and made her leave.  That was the first time I witnessed racism.  To me, she was a nice girl who I had a lot in common with (except the color of our skin).  But to others, she was the "wrong" color, so I couldn't play with her anymore.

Griffin decides to move his family to Mexico when the hostility in Mansfield doesn't stop. A negro boy is helping Griffin pack up his parents house when they get to talking about racism. Griffin tells the boy nobody is born racist, but taught to hate.
