Pennsylvania, probably Dauphin County, painted blanket chest, ca. 1795, the ends decorated with floret and tulip stenciled ovals, the front with similarly decorated panels with central red and green stars flanking a stylized heart, all on an intricately stenciled ground, the interior is fitted with a till and serpentine wrought iron hinges, 22 1/2" h., 51" w., 23" d.
Birth and Baptismal Certificate Fraktur, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, initialed and dated "G & T" and "1815," water and ink drawing with a shield and double eagle, inscription enclosed in a heart surrounded by vining flowers and leaves, all in red, light blue, and black, (toning, creases), image 12 1/2 x 15 1/2, in a grained frame, 17 1/4 x 20 1/4 in. overall.
