Unbelievable photo of USS LSM-238 unloading on an Iwo Jima Beach, some days after the Feb. 19, 1945 landings. The original World War II vintage photo caption reads: Japanese view of American Armada off Iwo Jima. The huge armada of U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard-manned ships and landing craft which brought the Fourth and Fifth #Marine divisions as well as elements of the Third division to the next island in the chain stretching toward victory in Japan. # NH 104212

Japan tsunami 'ghost' ship owner does not want it back. The fishing boat drifted across the Pacific after getting washed away from its moorings by last year's huge tsunami does not want it back. The 65-meter (210-foot) vessel was spotted last week by a Canadian Forces aircraft on a routine surveillance patrol. A military photo shows the ship, streaked with rust but intact, floating 150 nautical miles off the southern coast of Haida Gwaii islands, (930 miles) north of Vancouver.
