This is Hercules, a Liger (combo lion & tiger), with the staff member holding up the newest baby liger, Aries. This animal is beautiful, yes, but is a hybrid-meaning that it does not exist in the wild. And the owner of this preserve calls himself a 'conservationist.' How is this conservation when one is breeding (or allowing the breeding to happen) hybrid animals that are a 'wow' factor & just serve to bring in more $$?
Jungle Island in Miami is home to a liger (a hybrid cross between a male lion and a female tiger) named Hercules, the largest non-obese liger. The liger is recognized by the Guiness Book of World Records as the largest cat on Earth, weighing in at 900 lbs.
Humans are usually predators, but we can be prey too. The people in a village on the Niger River in Africa were losing fellow villagers at a rapid rate and called in the army, which shot a 7 m, 1200 kg crocodile. ~via Amazing Things in the World page, FB
