An ornate glove, worn at the monarch’s Westminster Abbey coronation on January 15 1559, it is just one of a number of gloves belonging to past kings and queens being exhibited at Selfridges' London flagship. Queen Elizabeth I’s coronation gauntlet glove was hand-sewn from white alum-tawed suede leather, has a cuff decorated with silver thread, pearls and sequins and features silk satin inserts in a stylised design showing an orb, flowers and leaves.
