Aggie linebacker Brian Gamble celebrates an emotional win over the Longhorns in 1999. Eight days after the collapse of Texas A & M’s traditional pregame bonfire that killed 12 people.

Current and former students left one of their most prized possesions - their precious Aggie Rings - in front of the flagpole of the Administration Building in the days after the bonfire collapse, to honor the underclassmen who passed away and never got their own. The university later returned all the rings, except for one, a men's ring from the Class of '83 whose owner intentionally scratched out their name and has to this day never come forward. This is what it means to be an Aggie.
