Looney Tunes Wile E Coyote ~ Coyote repeatedly attempts to catch and eat the Road Runner, but is never successful. Coyote, instead of his species' animal instincts, uses absurdly complex contraptions and elaborate plans to pursue his prey, which always comically backfire with Wile normally getting injured by the slapstick humor. He is generally silent in the Coyote-Road Runner cartoons. TV Guide included Wile E. Coyote in their list of The 60 Nastiest Villains of All Time.
The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show (1959-64) ABC/ NBC ~ The series is structured as a variety show. Their adversaries are the Russian spies Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale. Supporting segments include Dudley Do-Right, Peabody's Improbable History, and Fractured Fairy Tales. The show mixed puns, cultural and topical satire, and self-referential humor, so it appealed to adults as well as children. The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show was ranked the sixth Greatest TV Cartoon of All Time by TV Guide.
