The Amalfi Coast (Italy) and its built terraces are as beautiful as Cinque Terre. In Amalfi Coast is possible to enjoy views like these, in the town of Positano. Terraces dressed up with colourful buildings and sea views. A great bet for summer.
The Roman Empire made great advancements in transportation through the use of roads. These roads allowed for easier trade and effective travel between cities. Sources: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_roads
Voted the 'Best Driving Road' in the world, the Stelvio Pass in the Italian Alps is one of the highest mountain passes in all of Europe. Riddled with 48 hairpin turns on your way up the mountain, it is another road that is (so very obviously) closed in snowy months. Of note is that the world's highest battle was fought here in WWI.
Italy- Most of the streets look like this with little shops and next door a home. Great restaurants tucked here and there. Wine shops with little tables and chairs where people sit in the middle of the day and have a glass of wine on their work break. I will go back one day, soon.
