Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4 (0941)  Shot down during combat with fighters over Dover and crashed at Church Farm, Church Whitfield 4.24 p.m. Lt Landry baled out badly wounded and captured.  Died of injuries 23-9-40.  This incident was witnessed by Winston Churchill during a tour of inspection of Dover Castle, and the crash site was visited by him shortly afterwards.
