With the premiere of HBO’s Game of Thrones Season 5 sneaking up on us, we’ve been seeing a lot of promotional material for it. We have seven new stunning character portraits to add thanks to Entertainment Weekly. They feature Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), Jon (Kit Harrington), Arya (Maisie Williams), and Tyrion (Peter Dinklage). In an interview with HBO programming president Michael Lombardo, he discusses taking the series beyond seven seasons, which is what was originally intended for the show. Here’s what he said: “We’ll have an honest conversation that explores all possible avenues. If they weren’t comfortable going beyond seven seasons, I trust them implicitly and trust that’s the right decision—as horrifying as that is to me. What I’m not going to do is have a show continue past where the creators believe where they feel they’ve finished with the story.” Obviously he would love to keep the series alive for as long as he can, but there has to be an end sometime. As sad as it is to see great shows like this end, it’s better to end on a high note when it should end, instead of dragging it out for the sake of dragging it out. Ben did a great little rant about this in an article he posted yesterday that you can read here.
