Migration. Mary Alayne Thomas. “I was initially taken with a love for the luminosity and versatility of watercolor. I have since gone on to work with encaustic, resin, silkscreen, gold leaf, India ink, colored pencil and tin. My artwork begins as a watercolor, which is then coated with encaustic (beeswax combined with resin) or an epoxy resin. The other media are then layered between the wax or resin washes. When creating his artwork, American artist Christian Faur does not utilize pure dabs of paint to create these Pointillist-style images. He uses simple crayons as the medium for his artwork, but not in the way that one might typically expect. Working with thousands of colorful wax sticks, Faur stands the crayons up and arranges the tips into pixelated patterns that form stunning portraits.

"I drew my own pattern and then used puffy paint on top of wax paper to draw it out. Then I used some mod podge to glue it on and I added it to my collection on the wall. This is the direction I originally planned to hang the canvas, but I had to trace it going to the opposite direction because I am right handed. I always make sure to trace left to right so I don't get my hand in any paint."
