Leslie Howard  Leslie Howard Steiner born in Forest Hill, London, England (April 3,1893 – June 1,1943) was an English actor of stage and film. He was also a director, and producer. Best remembered for playing Ashley Wilkes in Gone with the Wind (1939). During his short but memorable career he made more than 30 films.
