The Piano Teacher. This is my kind of book. A literate book about voyeurism, porn, self-mutilation, an illicit love affair and a cuckoo ending. I love this book sooo much. When Elfriede Jelinek won the Nobel Prize in literature it incensed so many people around the world including a Swedish Academy member who resigned in protest calling her work, "whining, unenjoyable public pornography." As if that were a bad thing.
