All my writing clients work with model books. By analyzing what worked in another book, you can determine what might work in yours. Pick apart the model book. Can you chart the arc of the story? Where does it open? Where is the midpoint in the plot? Where is the climax? Look at the characters. Where are they introduced? Are there any subplots? Where do the subplots get resolved?
