Neo-paganism is one of the fastest growing religions in the world. Its focus is on a nature-based relationship between people and the environment. Pagan traditions are earth-based. Pagan rituals remind people they a part of the natural environment not apart from it. Samhain (now commonly known as Halloween) is a Gaelic festival held on October 31–November 1. The Irish name Samhain is derived from Old Irish and means "summer's end". It marked the end of the harvest, the end of the "lighter half" of the year and beginning of the "darker half".
