Memrise is a web tool that is aimed at helping users to learn words from any language. The site is completely free, and users can share their favorite words and definitions with their group of friends or colleagues. The information about the words or phrases contains videos, examples, and other great multimedia snippets that make it easier for visual learners to commit these new words to memory.

NYPL Labs, a technology and design unit created in 2011 to boost the library’s presence on the actual internet has new tool. "Building Inspector" is a "ReCaptcha" of Urban maps. Building Inspector allows you to play around with digitized fire insurance maps of New York City from the 1850s and 1860s and improve the accuracy of the digital versions in the process.
