DUNCAN, B.C. A photo postcard, which shows a view looking north up Craig Street in Duncan. In view are several horse and carriages, at right is the Cowichan Merchant Limited building and further down is city hall. Card is published by Gidley’s Studio (Jesse Gidley). Handwritten title is that of Duncan photographer Charles William Sillence, whom Gidley was known to have used some of his images for his postcards. Azo stampbox dates 1904-1918.

Built in 1899 at HM Dockyard, Sheerness, she was transferred to the newly formed Royal Canadian Navy in 1915, becoming HMCS Shearwater. An unidentified steamship is moored off to the left. Card is published by Shaw Bros. (Empire Series) circa 1904-1915.
