Frederick Augustus III (25 May 1865 – 18 Feb 1932) was the last King of Saxony (1904–1918). Among his many decorations was the Pour le Mérite (Prussia), Iron Cross, 1st and 2nd classes (Prussia), Order of the Rue Crown, Military Order of St. Henry, Albert Order, Civil Order of Saxony, 1st class, Knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece (Austria), Knight Grand Cross of the Military Order of Max Joseph (Bavaria), and Knight Grand Cross of the Military Order of Maria Theresa (Austria-Hungary).
Chinoiserie describes a European fantasy vision of China. Prince Regent Suite at Brocket Hall England, commissioned by the Prince himself, for his mistress Maria Fitzherbert in 18th Century. The stunning hand painted Chinese wallpaper is still in place. Other features of Chinoiserie is the porcelain lamp, black lacquered side table and the red headboard of magnificent golden pagodas and dragons.
This golden diadem was made for Queen Marie of Romania in late 1910s. It is composed of flower motifs with a large Orthodox Cross in the middle. There are no precious stones, no additional decorations – just a plain solid gold.
