Generaloberst Georg Lindemann, commander of the 18. Armee, presents the Knight’s Cross to Major Alfons Rebane, commander of the Estnische Bataillon 658 (Estonian voluntary battalion 658). Rebane was the first Estonian to receive the Knight’s Cross and will become the most decorated and probably the most talented and charismatic Baltic soldier during WWII.
