In 1935, after collectors and others complained to Congress, these sheets (including stamps in honor of national parks) were made available to the public.

The United States Postal Service and the People's Republic of China marked World Post Day with the issuance of two 29-cent commemorative stamps on October 9, 1994, in Washington, DC, and Beijing, China. The stamps feature two endangered species, the Black-Necked Crane of Asia and the Whooping Crane of North America. These birds symbolize peace and friendship.
