— LAPWING ON LANGHAM ROAD LONDON N15. MANY THANKS TO TURNPIKE ART GROUP- TAG. LAPWING WERE ONCE A VERY COMMON BIRD ON BRITISH FARMLAND, BUT THEY ARE NOW QUITE RARE, SUFFERING THE EFFECTS OF MODERN INTENSIVE AGRICULTURE, WHICH HAS NO PLACE FOR UNDISTURBED FIELDS OR FLOWER AND WATER MEADOWS. —
Short-toed eagle - seen on our walk at Morden Bog 31.5.14, photo by Aidan Brown. This may be only the third record of this bird in UK and we watched it for best part of 30 mins as it sat in a tree before it flew south. What a brilliant sight.
