Air Force Capt Kermit O. Evans, 31, of Hollandale, Mississippi. Died December 3, 2006, serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Assigned to 27th Civil Engineer Squadron, Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico; deployed with 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing, Balad Air Base, Iraq. Died of injuries sustained when the Marine CH-46 helicopter he was experienced a mechanical failure and made an emergency landing in Lake Qadisiyah, Anbar Province, Iraq.
