Army SGT. Israel Garcia, 24, of Long Beach, California. Died July 13, 2008, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 2nd Bn, 503rd Inf Regt (Airborne), 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Vicenza, Italy. Died of injuries sustained from enemy small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades in Wanat, Afghanistan. Though mortally wounded, he prevented the observation post from being overrun. Israel Devora Garcia Died April 1, 2006 Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom 23, of Clint, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany; killed April 1 when an improvised explosive device detonated while he was conducting a dismounted patrol in Baghdad.
