Photographer and nature enthusiast Christopher Amstutz captured these incredible photographs of the Northern Lights last night. Also known as Aurora borealis, these bright, ethereal lights are caused by collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun that enter the earth's atmosphere. The lights are often seen above the northern and southern poles in colors of green and pink, and less frequently red, blue and yellow.
