Mephisto The Monkey's Grave. Hare Hill Park, Littleborough. Grid Ref: SD 93587 16729. It is believed Mephisto was the pet of the Newell family, who owned Hare Hill House in the 1800s. . Mephisto was a pet monkey and legend has it that the monkey escaped, climbed up to the roof and then fell to an untimely death. The headstone was stolen in 2006 but there's a replacement in place now... Why anyone would want to steal one of Littleborough's points of interest is a mystery.

Cork Stone on Stanton Moor - Derbyshire On Stanton Moor there are a number of these blocks of granite. They are the harder rock that has remained as the plateau was worn down through the ages. Cork Stone is 15 feet high and has iron foot rests driven into it. It is also covered with graffiti, accumulated over many years.

Stublick Chimney, Langley, Northumberland.  Langley Mill was built in 1768 to smelt lead from Alston Moor. A mile long flue to this chimney was completed in 1859. The smelt mills were closed in 1887. Only the reservoirs, flues and watercourses remain visible, along with this chimney as a memorial to the workers of the lead industry.
